The pioneering idea that started it all

The Reeces’ story began in Wembley, Western Australia, in 1905, when Mrs Reece founded a delicatessen, selling affordable tea sets, crockery and cutlery for the cherished afternoon tea parties that provided solace during World War I. Soon Mrs Reece introduced a pioneering concept—hiring out catering items. Reeces Hire was born.

Growing with Perth's major events

Reeces Hire thrived under the stewardship of the Reece family and continued to transform under different ownerships. Major events like the Leeuwin Concert Series at Leeuwin Estate and the Johnnie Walker Classic Golf were turning points, allowing Reeces to accommodate large crowds.

Moving Up A Level

Reeces proudly introduced Western Australia’s first-ever Double Decker Marquee—a revolutionary structure that remains the only one of its kind in the state to this day. Instantly a crowd favourite, it became a centrepiece for iconic events such as the Spring Carnival at Ascot, Johnnie Walker Classic, Rally Australia, Margaret River Pro, and the Perth Royal Show.

Bigger & Better

Reeces raised the bar again by acquiring a colossal 50m x 60m marquee, the largest in Australia at the time. Even in 2024, it remains one of only three of its size nationwide and the sole example outside Sydney and Melbourne.

This 3,000m² marvel is a standout feature at major events like the annual Diggers & Dealers Conference in Kalgoorlie. It has also been used at the Perth Royal Show, and premium showcase events for Tourism WA.

Community support through the pandemic

The millennium brought new opportunities, with Reeces becoming a leading supplier of marquees to the mining industry. And during COVID-19 in 2020, Reeces served the community by facilitating 25 drive-through testing sites across Western Australia.

A new beginning

In early 2023, Reeces was acquired by The Event Mill, and our vision ensures that Reeces’ legacy will continue to soar. For over 100 years, we’ve been trusted to raise the roof for WA’s biggest and best. We look forward to creating memorable events and providing exceptional services for future generations.
