10m x 15m Marquee
One of the staff at Reece’s Event Hire brother-in law wanted to get married on his farm in Cascades about two hours north west of Esperance. So we loaded a truck with a marquee and some extra gear and drove off into the wheat belt. After a 185km drive down a gravel road we came to Thunderstruck farm run by the Parker Brothers and discovered the amazing little piece of heaven on earth the Parkers had created. Together with his bride to be Ebony, Anthony Parker had built a beautiful little house and landscaped an amazing front lawn and garden surrounded by paddocks with views of the sunset. They really wanted to take advantage of the location to have a cocktail style wedding.
We exchanged emails frequently and decided due to the time of year (Mid-September) it would be best to have a clear roof marquee to keep heat in if it got cold. The clear roof marquee also meant there was no sacrificing the incredible surrounds and night sky. We also decided to position a 4.8m x 6m natural style Jarrah outdoor dance floor just outside the marquee and run some festooning lighting above it. One of our favorite classical wedding looks. This dance floor is built in house by Reece’s. We also set up some metal halide flood lights under two feature trees they had on the lawn then pointed two of our large LED city colour flood lights into the scrub set to a slow colour scroll. This also helped the guests as they stumbled back to the adjoin paddock that had become the caravan park for the evening with over 100 caravans setup.
The bride and groom had built their own bar out of scrap timber and turned some old cable reels into cocktail tables. Ebony then worked closely with a florist to create a rustic and authentically vintage country look to the marquee. Ebony and Anthony also used a friend to do the catering who would give some of Perth’s top catering companies a run for their money. Working out of a small kitchen and with a BBQ on the back porch she produced some extremely sophisticated and delicious array of canapés’ and small meals. Knowing the energy levels and drinking ability to of farmers she ensured food was in no short supply.
An excellent selection of wine and imported beers from the bar plus a self-create cocktail station helped round off an amazing setup for their special day.
The photographer agreed with us this was one of the best designed and executed wedding setups he has seen, and given the farm is 2 hours from anywhere this was no small feat.
Using two of our 15inch Turbo sound speakers for the IPad DJ the party got underway.
Needless to say we struggled the next day to keep up with the early rising farmers as we packed down the event.
And yes the first waltz of the night was Thunderstruck.
